MEDIA ADVISORY – March 2021

PNG Air Domestic Travel Requirements

PNG Air wishes to advise the travelling public of the new domestic travel directives for Air Service Providers issued on the 10th of March 2021 by the Office of the Controller, David Manning.

As per this directive, air service providers are provided a two-week exemption. Passengers who book flights after the 10th of March 2021 must have a valid reason for travel in compliance with Measure No. 3.

For passengers who have a return flight booked on or before the 10th of March 2021, a grace period to return to your originating port of departure is in place until the 25th of March.

This exemption comes into immediate effect and continues in force until the 25th of March 2021.

Updated travel requirements into the Autonomous Region of Bougainville

Updated travel requirements into the Autonomous Region of Bougainville

PNG Air wishes to advise the travelling public that requirements for travel into AROB has been updated as per the amended circular No. 02/2021 issued by the Department of President and Bougainville Executive Council. The new requirements are as follows;

  1. Passengers are no longer required to have the Electronic Confirmation Travel Letter (ECT) to purchase tickets.
  2. Passengers are still required to obtain and present a genuine Covid-19 medical clearance certificate through a PCR or GeneXpert testing facility 72 hours prior to departure. This must be issued by recognized public and private medical officer. Only travelers with a returned negative test result will be allowed to check-in and entry into Bougainville.
  3. Passengers are now required to fill out Health Declaration Forms upon Check-In.

Update on PNG Air flights into Misima, Milne Bay Province

Further to PNG Air Media Advisory on Misima Flights dated 18th January 2021, PNG Air would like to advise the general public that there is an extension on flight restrictions into Misima Island, Milne Bay Province. This is unfortunately due to poor conditions of the Bwagaoia Runway in Misima.

This extension of restrictions will continue to be in place while we work closely with the Provincial Administration until such time when the runway is in compliance with Civil Aviation Rule Part 121 Operations.

Resumption of PNG Air Flights into Hoskins, West New Britain

PNG Air wishes to advise the travelling public that as per Measure No. 13 of the National Pandemic Act 2020 by the controller David Manning, the flight restriction period of operations into Hoskins, West New Britain has now ended on the 22nd of January 2021.

As such, PNG Air will resume flights into Hoskins on the 23rd of January, and passengers may book flights thereafter.

Passengers travelling out of the province will need to take a Rapid COVID 19 test at the designated testing health locations – Bialla, Kimbe and Hoskins before your flight. Check-in will not take place unless a negative RAPID Test result is sighted by the PNG Air Check-In Staff. Passenger boarding passes will only be issued upon presenting of a negative test result.
