Baggage Information

Fly with confidence on PNG Air – here’s everything you need to know about our carry-on and checked baggage rules for domestic flights across Papua New Guinea.

Checked Baggage

Each passenger holding a seat is entitled to a 16 kg free checked baggage allowance (infants are not eligible for a checked allowance). Strollers and car seats are uplifted free of charge.
For checked bags to be accepted, the following must be met:

  • No single piece may weigh more than 32 kg, and the combined linear dimensions (length + width + height) must not exceed 158 cm.
  • All checked baggage must be properly packed to withstand handling during loading and unloading.

Please note that the following items must not be included in your checked baggage:

    • Fragile, delicate or perishable items.
    • Computers, Cameras or personal electronic equipment.
    • Items of special value, such as cash, cheques, jewellery or precious metals.
    • Negotiable papers, share certificates or other valuable documents.
    • Medicines or health equipment.

We reserve the right to refuse items that are packed improperly or are clearly not able to withstand normal handling (for example, loose glass sheets).

Dangerous Goods

Restricted and dangerous goods are not permitted in either checked baggage or carry-on luggage. Please refer to our infographic for further clarification if in doubt.

Cabin Baggage

You are permitted one piece of cabin baggage up to 7 kg per person, which must fit within our cabin baggage test unit. We strongly recommend that you keep your valuables—phones, cameras, money and important documents—in your carry-on bag.

Items not permitted in your carry-on include:

  • Sharp objects or metals such as knives or scissors.
  • Aerosols without lids (these should be packed in your checked baggage).

Missing or Damaged Baggaged

If your baggage is missing or damaged upon arrival, please report the issue to our ground staff within 24 hours of your flight.

If the baggage cannot be located within three days of your flight, you may be eligible to submit a claim—only baggage reported on arrival can be assessed for compensation.

As per our Terms and Conditions of Carriage, PNG Air is not liable for any loss or damage if the report is submitted outside the 24-hour window.
